Training and Outreach

Scientific and technical demonstrations (master’s and undergraduate practicals)

The carrying out of scientific-technical demonstrations of instrumental equipment and/or facilities may be requested by the teaching and research staff of the University of Vigo. During the development of the demonstration, the applicant will be present in order to provide theoretical explanations and will be assisted by the designated technical staff, who will collaborate in those practical aspects and clarifications that arise. Demonstrations in which the person responsible for the subject is not present will not be attended.

The demonstration must be requested from the person responsible for the corresponding service, to agree on the day and time so that it does not affect the development of the activity within the service. The applicant must then make the reservation in the LIMS indicating that it is for a demonstration, and reserving the hours agreed upon with the service’s technical staff.

Visits

Guided tours of the CACTI services may be requested by staff from the University of Vigo, institutes, vocational training centers, public organizations and public or private institutions or companies. The maximum capacity per organization or entity is 25 people and the maximum duration is 1h 45min. The visits will be on the last Friday of each month (except the months of August and December) in the morning, from 11:00h to 13:45h . To carry out these visits, you must make a reservation.

Extracurricular and curricular practices, final project and final course work

REGULATION OF THE PARTICIPATION OF CACTI IN TFG, TFM AND EXTRA- AND CURRICULAR PRACTICES.

The TFG/TFM and internships will always be carried out under the supervision of an academic tutor, that is, a PDI from the applicant entity.

The CACTI Services may participate in the training of extra- and curricular internships and also as SUPPORT in the experimental development of the TFG/TFM.

A Technical co-tutor will be designated in each Service, with the approval of the head of the service. The head of the service (whether co-tutor or not) must confirm that any of the activities does not negatively affect the development of the services for other users.

The number of TFG/TFM and extra-/curricular internships per service will be assessed by the head of the service, depending on the workload and the availability of the technicians.
For the TFG/TFM, the work project proposal will be presented by the Academic Tutor who must also make the request(s) for the trials on the @LIMS Platform, since they are part of the research to be developed in that project.

The teaching staff must complete the form “REQUEST FOR TRAINING ACTIVITIES AT CACTI”, which must be sent to the technician responsible for the CACTI Service with which they propose to collaborate. After their assessment, the technician responsible will be able to communicate to the teaching staff the acceptance of participation and at the same time will inform the Management of the Centre of this fact, also attaching the form.
