Pure Water and Liquid Nitrogen Supplies

The supply of Liquid N2 and Pure Water in a self-service regime requires a service request to be made through the @ LIMS Platform. The keys to access the room designated for the collection of liquid Nitrogen are available at the concierge.

CACTI has the following supply services :

Liquid Nitrogen Supply

This unit offers the different university, research and business centers in our area the supply of this liquefied gas, in a centralized manner so that they can cover their needs, both teaching and research, in small quantities and for those who find it unprofitable to individually contract this supply.

To provide this service, the center has signed a contract with a gas company that allows it to maintain a constantly available stock of this liquefied gas.

  • The only requirement that users must meet is to have their own dewar container.
Pure Water Supply

Pure water can be obtained from that normally used for consumption, the only requirement being that it be potable, obtaining purified water with a low content of ions, organic matter, microorganisms, colloids and particles. To obtain this quality, the water from the network is first passed through an active carbon filter and a pre-treatment block, and then directed towards the modules with reverse osmosis membranes. This unit has two pieces of equipment, one for pure water and the other for ultrapure water.

Ultrapure water is produced from that obtained by the system described above, its main characteristic being the lowest total organic carbon content. The pretreated water passes through an ultraviolet photooxidation chamber, equipped with a dual-wavelength ultraviolet (UV) lamp that oxidizes the organic matter residues released in the pretreatment phase, also presenting a germicidal function. As a final step, it passes through a purification block that eliminates ionized compounds.

Among the utilities of these waters are high-sensitivity instrumental analyses, such as those carried out using GC, GC/MS, HPLC, Langmuir Blodgett monolayers and microelectronic manufacturing.
