ICP-MS Multicolector

This technique allows the determination of the isotopic ratios of most elements of the periodic table (for example 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, 208Pb/204Pb, 87Sr/86Sr, 56Fe/54Fe, 57Fe/54Fe).
It is applicable to a wide variety of sample types: waters (natural, waste), biological samples, industrial waste, soils, sediments, plant materials, alloys, etc., although it requires that the samples be in solution.
The basis of the technique lies in the capture of m/z (mass/charge) particles resulting from the ionization of atoms obtained from the high temperatures achieved in the argon plasma: the number of m/z particles will be proportional to the analyte concentration in the same, the selection of m/z particles is carried out using an analyzer, either magnetic or quadrupolar.
The multi-collector spectrometer allows the simultaneous determination of up to nine signals, provided that their dispersion and focusing are adequate. The main objective of this polydetection is to achieve maximum precision between the ratios of the different signals analyzed.

Instrumental Facilities

Applications
It is applicable to a wide variety of sample types: waters (natural, waste), biological samples, industrial waste, soils, sediments, plant materials, alloys, etc., although it requires that the samples be in solution.
Sample requirements
-Samples can be solid or liquid, homogeneous and representative of the material.
-Samples will be prepared depending on the analyte and type of matrix to be studied, and it may be necessary to digest the sample, extract and isolate the analyte of interest, dope or dilute the sample.
-The amount of sample required will depend on the concentration of the analyte.
-Samples must come in perfectly closed plastic or glass containers and identified with correlative numbers
-The maximum number of samples per service request is 20.
Users who wish to recover samples already analyzed will have a maximum of one month from the sending of the results, after this period the samples will be eliminated.
